Abstract
The FTA-ABS [fluorescent treponemal antibody absorption technique] in over a thousand patients was found to be at least as sensitive as the TPI test in all stages of syphilis. The FTA-ABS test is performed on sera from which disrupted Reiter treponemes have absorbed antibodies which cause many false positive reactions. The authors state that specificity has not as yet been completely evaluated. This publication has 12 references indexed in Scilit:
