Abstract
Stepwise, synthetic alteration of oxytocin, guided by conformational and enzymological considerations, has led to analogs with specifically modified activity profiles and resistance to enzymatic inactivation. General requirements for the design of peptides with therapeutic value are discussed. Keywords
