Abstract
Ragweed reaginic serums were fractionated by a rivanol method modified to perform the entire procedure without losing initially established bacteriological sterility. Rivanol soluble as well as rivanol precipitable proteins were "derivanolized" with sodium bromide or sodium barbital, two salts which, like several other salts studied, form highly insoluble rivanol compounds. The skin sensitizing factor was not markedly affected by rivanol. Over the pH range from 9.1 to 4.5 the distribution of proteins and of reactivity was optimal at pH 8.6 in that reactivity was fivefold enriched with the rivanol soluble proteins. Keywords
