Abstract
Absorption measurements are used to calculate the oscillator strengths for transitions from the ground state of in YAl to the 14 lowest multiplets lying between 12 540 and 36 360 . The results of these measurements and computations employing the Judd-Ofelt theory are compared to recently published results.
