The Role of Ascorbic Acid in Corneal Vascularization

Abstract
Small standard heat injuries were inflicted on the corneae of normal and scorbutic guinea pigs. In a certain number of cases new vessels invaded the corneae in response to the injury, but the vascularization occurred with significantly greater frequency in the scorbutic group than in the control group. The incidence of vascularization does not appear to be merely a function of the time of healing of the lesions.
