Abstract
Comparison has been made of the in vitro steroidogenic capacity of adrenals from normal and arteriosclerotic female rats, intact and uninephrectomized. Incubated adrenals from arteriosclerotic breeder rats discahrge a mixture of α-ketolic steroids in which the proportion of aldosterone is significantly lower than the corresponding production of virgin animals free of arteriosclerosis. The adrenals of uninephrectomized breeder rats with gross arteriosclerosis produce far less aldosterone than adrenals from uninephrectomized breeders without gross arteriosclerosis. Keywords
