Abstract
The synthesis and enzymatic activity of some 4[image]-analogues of thiamine pyrophosphate (TPP) are described. None of the prepared compounds showed co-enzyme activity. When mixed with thiamine pyrophosphate in the molar ratio 1:1, the analogues inhibited the apoenzyme in the following order: 4[image]-hydroxy-4[image]-desamlno-TPP> 4[image]-mercapto-4[image]-desamino TPP > N-methyl- TPP > N.N- dimethyl- TPP.[long dash]Authors.
