Abstract
Angle-resolved ultraviolet photoemission spectra are measured from epitaxially grown films of CuCl with (100) and (111) orientation. The preparation and characterisation of the samples is described in some detail. In the photon energy range investigated (11.8-40.8 eV) the results are dominated by one-dimensional density of states features. This fact allows the authors to determine several critical point energies of the valence bands. A comparison is made with different theoretical valence band-structure models. The best agreement is found with fully self-consistent local-density calculations. Keywords
