Abstract
Using the chromosome II markers, spot and black pedicel of Aedes aegypti, the relative position of the gene for DDT-resistance in 4 DDT-resistant strains was determined. The linkage values indicate that spot is nearer to DDT than is black pedicel. The linkage estimations indicate that there are 2 alternative gene loci for DDT- resistance, about 10 map units apart. At 1 locus the resistance gene is incompletely recessive, while at the other the DDT-resistance gene is incompletely dominant. Both loci appear in the Trinidad DDT-resistant substrains derived from the same stock by selection within a few generations; 1 locus is probably an inversion of the other, modifiers influencing the dominance of the resistant gene. The arrangement of the genes on the 2nd chromosome is shown, (DDT[image] is the alternative locus for DDT-resistance in 2 of the Trinidad strains). This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
