Abstract
Young albino rats fed diets containing amounts of casein in excess of that necessary for optimum growth developed renal hypertrophy. This tendency was prevented or inhibited by yeast extract supplements. Neither tikitiki extract nor autoclaved liver prevented entirely the renal hypertrophy which resulted from a 40% protein diet, but they had an inhibitory effect when given together. The results were not due to inanition. Keywords
