Abstract
The first results of direct measurements of heavy-ion reaction cross sections, , with use of the beam attenuation method are reported. For the + system was measured at three incident energies, 112, 360, and 996 MeV. The data show deviations from the geometrical reaction cross section and agree with recent theoretical predictions based on Glauber theory.
