Abstract
A state of post-traumatic anuria can be achieved in cats by a combination of crushing and tourniquet application to the hind limbs. Control animals remain anuric for 48 hrs. following this procedure. At 24 hrs. the anuric state can be reversibly relieved by appln. of procaine to either T5-L1 paravertebral ganglia or directly to the splanchnics. Both the post-anuric urine and post-mortem kidneys are normal to chemical and histological examination. Keywords
