Abstract
A Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O high-T c superconducting layer was formed on a metallic copper substrate by the reaction between calcined Bi2SrCaOp powder or thick film and surface-oxidized copper plate, The reaction proceeded at an oxidized copper surface to form a triple layer structure composed of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O x , CuO q , and Cu. The use of Bi in excess of the high-T c phase stoichiometry (Bi/Sr/Ca=1/1/1) was essential for the formation of the superconducting Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O layer. Keywords
