Abstract
A questionnaire randomly distributed to 138 elderly individuals in Luxembourg and 100 in Thionville, France, revealed the high extent of participation in outdoor recreation in the two European countries. This cross-cultural study of a subject shown by others to be an important predictor of successful aging, identified similarities and differences in socio-economic characteristics, attitudes, and environmental factors associated with outdoor recreation participation in the two industrialized countries. Keywords
