Abstract
Young and adult male rats were maintained on pyridoxine-deficient and control diets, the latter fed ad libitum to some of the animals and restricted in quantity to others. Lymphocytes and granulocytes were counted in the blood of all rats after 5 to 8 wks. on the diet and thymus wts. were recorded on autopsy. A definite granu-locytosis occurred in the deficient rats but not in the 2 control groups. Lymphopenia was seen equally in the deficient and the pair-weighed control groups. Specific involution of the thymus occurred in the deficient group in excess of that seen in the pair-weighed group. All blood and thymus changes were rapidly reversed by realimentation of the deficient and pair-weighed animals. Keywords
