Abstract
Changes in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and the maximum reabsorptive capacity of the renal tubules was accomplished by a variety of drugs and different procedures in dogs. The GFR/TmG ratio remained relatively constant in all these experiments. These results seem consistent with the assumption that changes in the number of functioning nephrons occur. The few procedures employed on patients suggests that the same phenomenon is possible in human beings. Keywords
