Abstract
Fertile eggs were injected with 0.01 gm. of various sugars in 10% soln., incubated and analyzed for glycogen at successive stages, generally after the 9th, 13th, and 17th day. Glucose, fructose, galactose, mannose, maltose and lactose gave increases in glycogen content over the controls; expressed as percentages of total weight these increases were 0.006-0.015%. Arabinose and xylose gave lower glycogen values than the controls, 0.018 and 0.016% respectively. Glucosamine gave a lowered value of 0.01% while hydroxymethylfurfural gave an increase of 0.003%.
