Abstract
A patient with Werner''s syndrome is presented and the literature is reviewed. Intensive investigation of his endocrinologic function failed to reveal any abnormalities. It therefore no longer seems reasonable to ascribe the manifestations of this disease to a primary endocrinopathy. Werner''s syndrome and lipoatrophic diabetes were compared and no significant similarities could be established. Measurement of urinary and serum amino acids failed to reveal any abnormalities which might explain the gross connective tissue atrophy. Tissue submitted for electron microscopy revealed normal structure of the connective tissue. Keywords
