Spectrum and Intensity of Light Scattered from Sulfur Hexafluoride along the Critical Isochore

Abstract
We have measured the thermal diffusivity (D), the isothermal compressibility (κT), and the pressure (P) along the critical isochore of sulfur hexafluoride over the temperature range 0.048K<(TTc)<2.4K. We find that κT=1.26×109(TTc1)1.235 ± 0.015 cm2/dyne and that (PT)V=[7.91+0.18(TTc)±0.1]×105 dyne/cm2 deg. We discuss our measurements of D in terms of the Kadanoff-Swift-Kawasaki mode-mode coupling theory.
