Abstract
The layered compound FeMO2S4 has been studied by Mossbauer spectroscopy in the temperature range from 4.2 up to 300K. The Neel point is determined as 114.1+or-0.3K, and the temperature dependence of the hyperfine magnetic field reveals a two-dimensional magnetic structure. Superparamagnetic effects found in a region of about 15K below the Neel point are connected with the unusual behaviour of the magnetic susceptibility reported recently. Keywords
