Abstract
A dynamic stability model for detailed stability studies on synchronous power systems is presented in such a form that it can be systematically reduced to models of reduced complexity. The complete model includes representation of stator and network transient effects as well as shaft torsional oscillation effects. The family of models of reduced cemplexity span the range of models found in the literature. The general approach is applied to test cases where the effects of modelling complexity are investigated. Keywords
