Abstract
Patients (43) with open-angle glaucoma were treated locally with 0.5% timolol. The drop in intraocular pressure [IOP] on the day after commencement of timolol therapy was remarkable. In 14 patients, 10 of whom had responded insufficiently to other glaucoma drugs, tachyphylaxis developed 2 or 3 days after being put on timolol therapy; in some cases tachyphylaxis was observed in follow-up examinations 2 mo. later. IOP in these eyes was in some cases even higher than it was prior to treatment with timolol. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
