Abstract
Earlier, for the adsorption and desorption mechanism occurring in a hydroxyapatite column with gradient chromatography, a competition model was introduced. The purpose of the present work is to reconsider the model in view of the hypothesis that the adsorbed phase constitutes a grand canonical system; another chromatographic model is also proposed. In this paper the fundamental assumptions characterizing the grand canonical system are specified, and the adsorption isotherm occurring when there is only a single molecular component is calculated. Keywords
