STUDIES ON TAKA-AMYLASE A

Abstract
With crystalline taka-amylase A, the amino acid composition is estimated by the use of starch column chromatography. When each amino acid is expressed as a molar ratio against 7 mols. of histidine the distribution is as follows: leucine 34, isoleucine 21, phenylalanine 14, tyrosine 28, valine 22, methionine 8, alanine 41, glutamic acid 25, aspartic acid 20, asparagine 48, glycine 47, arginine 9, lysine 22, histidine 7, tryptophan 10, proline 18, cystine 4, serine 33, threonine 46 mols., and the minimum molecular weight is calculated as 54,000 [plus or minus] 700.
