Abstract
The individual cross sections for the formation of 37 different radioactive products that result from the inelastic interaction of 370-Mev protons with cobalt nuclei have been determined. The results are interpreted in the light of a model that emphasizes the importance of the evaporation of particles from an excited nucleus to give the final products of the collision. By the interpolation of the formation cross sections of the undetected product nuclei, an estimation is made of the total inelastic interaction cross section and the differential cross section for the transfer of a given excitation energy to the target nucleus in an inelastic collision. Keywords
