The changing composition and magnitude of internal migration flows are of critical importance in determining the potential economic growth of a region. Yet, there can be little doubt that the business cycle has a significant influence on migration flows and propensities. This paper explores the effects of macroeconomic events on migration through an examination of the extent of the influence of the national and regional business cycle on the in-, out- and net-migration rates. La variation de la structure et de l'ampleur des flux migratoires au sein d'un pays joue un rôle primordial dans la détermination de la croissance économqiue potentielle d'une région. Cet article cherche à examiner les effets des événements macro-économiques sur la migration à l'aide d'une analyse de la portée de l'influence du cycle économique national et régional sur les taux de migration positifs, négatifs et nets. Dieser Aufsatz untersucht die Wirking makroökonomischer Ereignisse auf Wanderung, indem er das Ausmaß des Einflusses des nationalen und des regionalen Konjunkturzykluses auf Einwanderungs-, Auswanderungs- und Nettowanderungsraten prüft.
