Abstract
Serum proteuis of 4 hyperthyroid subjects given therapeutic quantities of I [131] days previously were separated by starch zone electrophoresis. The radioactivity was observed to localize in 2 major zones. One in the albumin area and 1 in the alpha zone ahead of alpha-globulin. The protein of these 2 zones was eluted from the starch with saline. The saline eluates were, in turn, extracted with butanol. The radioactivity of the albumin zone was not butanol -extra ctible. The radioactivity of the alpha zone was wholly extractible, and was identified as thyroxin by paper chromatography. No triiodothyronine was detected. Keywords
