STUDIES ON OESTROGEN METABOLISM IN NEW-BORN BOYS

Abstract
On the first day of life, 10 boys were injected with 500 ug of estradiol benzoate and the urine was polled each day for 6 days. The data indicated that the metabolism of exogeneous estradiol-17B in the new-born boy is different from that in the human adult. Since no estrone or estradiol-17B was excreted in the urine of new born boys, it appeared that the new-born organism was capable of modifying the estradiol administered.
