Abstract
Johnston R.J. (1983) On the symmetry of leads and lags in studies of regional unemployment, Reg. Studies 17, 105–112. Most studies of regional variations in unemployment trends use methods that assume a symmetry in the lead-lag relationships. It is argued that such an assumption is unwise. Illustrative data from New Zealand show that it does not hold there. Keywords
