Nonspectator contribution: A mechanism for inclusive BXsη and exclusive BK(*)η decays

Abstract
We propose a mechanism that can explain the large B(BXsη)103 observed by CLEO. In this mechanism, η is produced by the fusion of two gluons: one from the QCD penguin diagram bsg and the other one emitted by the light quark inside the B meson. The inclusive decay rate which is calculated via the factorization assumption can easily account for the observed branching ratio. We also estimate the exclusive branching ratio B(BKη)=7.0×105 which is in good agreement with the experimental data and present our prediction for the K* mode B(BK*η)=3.4×105.
