Abstract
A new species of cheilostome bryozoan, Hippothoa musivaria, is described from South Africa. H. musivaria occurs as an epizooite on the erect cheilostome, Adeonella sp., where it is confined to the interstices between the frontal walls of adjacent autozooids. The epizooite is progressively submerged by the frontal calcification of the host colony and its survival perhaps depends on rapid and continuous linear growth. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
