Abstract
AFTER fifteen years of widespread use of the soluble and longer-acting sulfonamides, particularly sulfisoxazole, without evidence of liver toxicity, reports of hepatic disease associated with these agents have appeared in recent months. Although extrapolation from experience with earlier sulfonamides suggested the possibility, no such association had previously been noted. The following case was due to sulfamethoxazole and sulfisoxazole.Case ReportA 60-year-old housewife was admitted to the hospital with jaundice. The family and past histories were negative for allergies and liver disease. Eight years previously a Urinary Tract infection had responded well to an unknown sulfonamide. One month before admission . . .This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
