Abstract
Acclimatization of albino rats to cold air (4-6[degree]C) appeared in some circulatory and endocrine functions. Protracted exposure resulted in systolic hypertension and peripheral vascular derengements. Hypertension was lost after return to warm air. Transient erythema and edema of the foot developed, and later regressed; they were greatly accelerated and increased in adrenalectomized animals. Longer exposure resulted in progressive gangrene of the rat''s tail. No gross or micro- scopic changes were found in either the thyroids or kidneys. Keywords
