Abstract
The myometrium of castrated rabbits, some of which had received estradiol benzoate with or without progesterone was analyzed for trichloracetic acid-soluble P, easily-hydrolyzable P (N/1 HCl at 100[degree]C for 9 min.) and slowly-hydrolyzed P (whatever was not hydrolyzed in the easily-hydrolyzed fraction). Rates of turnover were estimated by use of P32. TCA-soluble P turnover was not affected by hormones. Estradiol increased the turnover of easily-soluble and slowly-hydrolyzable fractions. Progesterone increased only the slowly-hydrolyzable P. The estrogen effect is believed to be associated with increased muscular activity induced by estrogens. Keywords
