Abstract
Rates of acid secretion, O2 consumption and lactate production by mouse stomachs in vitro were measured at several temps. and under various conditions. The acid secreting process has no unique Arrhenius temp. coeff. The efficiency measured by the ratio [DELTA]qH +/[DELTA]qO2 is probably close to 2. Glycolysis contributes to acid secretion. The properties of the mammalian acid-secreting processes are similar to those of the frog. Keywords
