Preparation and Properties of PbTiO3 Films by Sol-Gel Processing

Abstract
Thin films of PbTiO3 were fabricated by sol-gel processing. The optimum route and the conditions for preparing homogeneous and crack-free thin films were systematically investigated. Thin films were deposited on substrates by the dip-coating method. The films processed on silica glass and the (100) plates of SrTiO3 exhibit preferential orientation of the (001) axis perpendicular to the substrates. The spontaneous polarization and coercive field for the films deposited on indium-tin oxide-coated (ITO) glass were 3.5 µC/cm2 and 50 kV/cm, respectively.
