Abstract
An instance of hemorrhagic diathesis due to Ac-globulin deficiency is described. The prothrombin time, measured by the Quick method of Seegers, revealed normal prothrombin concn. Direct analysis for Ac-globulin demonstrated a marked deficiency of this substance. The one-stage prothrombin time was not shortened by oral or intraven. synthetic vit. K prepns. Prompt control of bleeding and temporary shortening of the prothrombin time followed the transfusion of 100 ml. of fresh blood. The authors suggest that Ac-globulin and Factor VI of Owren may be identical in view of the similarity of this case to those in which deficiency of Factor VI has been shown to be the cause of a bleeding tendency. Keywords
