Abstract
Earlier work (Amer. Jour. Physiol., 190:8, 1957) of the authors was repeated using a pure phosphatidylserine (PS) free of lysophosphatides with similar results. The compositions of all of the phosphatide freactions used as intermediates for the preparation of the PS were determined by paper chromatography. The generation of lysophosphatidylserine from pure PS occurs on storage for 1 month even under nitrogen at -15[degree]. Pure PS inhibited the formation of thromboplastin and neutralized its activity after the thromboplastin was formed. Details are given of the magnitude of these effects. Keywords
