Abstract
A modified OAAD method, using PMS [pregnant mare''s serum-human chorionic gonado-tropin] PMS-HCG primed rats maintained in an extended pseudopregnant-like state with estrogen treatment, is described. Accumulated evidence is presented to show that the estrogen treatment improves the assay by increasing OAAD responsiveness over a range of low doses of LH; prolonging (from 2-5 days to 2-3 weeks) the period during which assay rats can be used; and allowing the quality of a given assay to be anticipated with reasonable assurance. The specificity of the OAAD response does not appear to be altered, in comparisons with the parent method. This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
