Abstract
The albumin fraction was isolated electrophoretically from the sera of patients with cirrhosis of the liver, infective hepatitis, and one case of carcinoma of the liver. Sedimentation measurements in the Spinco ultracentrifuge, and also diffusion measurements in the Gouy diffusiometer, were carried out on these albumins at a protein concentration of the order of 0.2%. Possible interference of bilirubin with the determinations was studied. There is evidence that the albumins extracted from the sera of patients with liver diseases have normal molecular weight, and the data presented give no indication of qualitative differences between the albumins isolated.
