Abstract
The radioprotective effect of estradiol-17β was studied using 20-day-old male Swiss mice which were injected subcutaneously with the test material, dissolved in sesame oil, once daily for the 10 days prior to an LD50 dose of Co60 irradiation at 30 days of age. Total doses of 10 and 20 μg of estradiol-17β afforded significant protection up to 35 days post-irradiation. Similar protection was produced by a single injection of 165 μg of estradiol-17β benzoatc administered 10 days before irradiation. Keywords
