Abstract
Introduction It is impossible for any one person to write authoritatively on the current status of the treatment of all of the systemic fungous infections from his own experience alone, because of the preference of several of these disorders to remain geographically limited, each to its own selection of endemic areas, and because of the rarity of occurrence of those not limited in that manner. Adding supplemental knowledge by examining even the most recent literature insures only that portion of the report will be from one to two years out of date before it appears in print. This symposium was planned to avoid these faults as nearly as possible. Contributions were solicited from colleagues highly experienced in each of the specialized fields, to be prepared and delivered almost simultaneously, and arrangements were made to edit and publish them in the shortest possible time.
