Abstract
A method for the quantitative estimation of inositol in phospholipids is described. An amount of lipid containing 50-400 [mu]g inositol is hydrolyzed with 6[image] HCl at 110[degree]C for 6 hours. This is followed by chromatography using isopropanol- acetic acid. The inositol spots are eluted and the substance oxidized with periodate at 50[degree]C for 2.5 hours. Excess periodate is then determined by back titration with sodium thiosulfate. Keywords
