Abstract
A case is reported of chronic bilateral upper lobe pulmonary histoplasmosis of mixed bronchopneumonic and cavitary types in a 56-yr.-old white, male laborer, farmer, timber cutter and janitor from whose sputum Histoplasma capsulatum was repeatedly isolated by culture. Signs of the disease in sites other than the lungs, and evidence of any other disease were not detected. This is the first case of proved histoplasmosis ever reported in a lifelong resident of New York State who had never traveled outside of the State. The literature is reviewed and the interesting and outstanding points concerning this reported case are discussed. Keywords
