Abstract
The effect was studied of in vivo treatment with injected oxytocin on the progestogen content of the bovine corpus luteum. Treated corpora lutea had a significantly (p <.01) greater content of both 4-pregnene-20/3-ol-3-one (20/3-ol) and proges- terone than control corpora. However, during in vitro incubation, control corpora lutea synthesized significantly more 20/3-ol (p <.05) and progesterone (p <.01) than treated corpora. The addition of pregnenolone to the incubation medium caused a significant (p <.05) increase in 20/3-ol and progesterone. However, this increase was not significantly different between control and treated glands. Keywords
