THE USE OF SIMPLE THYROID FUNCTION TESTS IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF HYPERTHYROIDISM

Abstract
SUMMARY: In an examination of the efficiency of seven thyroid function tests in diagnosing and excluding hyperthyroidism, it has been found that three tests, but not less, are as efficient as all seven. The three tests are the BMR, the T index (based on the urinary excretion of 131I) and the protein-bound 131I at 48 hr after the tracer dose.
