Abstract
The effects of desoxycorticosterone acetate (DCA), adrenocortical extract (ACE) and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) on the distribution of electrolytes in the plasma and the tissues of post-cibal and fasted rats 24 hours after bilateral nephrectomy were studied. Levels of plasma Na, K and inorganic phosphate and concn. of these electrolytes in muscle, brain, liver and bone were detd. It is concluded that the adrenocortical hormones influence electrolyte metabolism in all tissues of the body, and that this influence is exerted independently of the known effects of these hormones on the kidney.
