Abstract
Medicago hybrida, M. rupestrls, M. dzhawakhetica var. timofeevil, and M. glomerata are perennial species of restricted distribution in some mountain areas. The chromosome number is 2n=16 in M. hybrlda, M. rupestrls, and M. glomerata, and in M. dzhawakhetica var. timofeevil it is 2n=32. M. hybrida superficially resembles M. falcata. It differs from M. falcata in several characters so that even Its membership in Medicago is not well established, il rupestrls has characteristic pods with few (1-1.5) turns, which separates It from the related M. rhodopea M. dzhawakhetica var. timofeevil has less hairy pods, greater vigor of growth, and a less elevated range of habitat than the common M. dzhawakhetica, and will not cross with the latter. It shares with it, however, a requirement for an uneven genomic ratio for successful crossing with M. sativa. M. glomerata has yellow flowers and coiled pods, making IFdifficult to delineate it from segregates of crosses involving M. falcata, M. sativa, and M. prostrata. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
