Abstract
A small segment of ureter of male Sprague-Dawley rats was ligated. Cortisone acetate (6.25 mg) was given daily by subcutaneous injection. Cortisone protected the kidney from the acute effects of ureteral liga-tion as evidenced by a smaller, more normal appearing organ, accumulation of less hydronephrotic fluid, and less tubular dilatation on microscopic examination. Keywords
