Abstract
The theory that CCl4. administration evokes a sympathoadrenal discharge resulting in liver necrosis and a fatty liver was tested. Injection of 1 mg/kg epinephrine increased the release of free fatty acid from epididymal adipose tissue of fasted rats. However, no effect on free fatty acid release of adipose tissue was observed after 0.5, 4 and 9 hours following 0.5 ml/kg CCl4 and mineral oil mixture (1:1) feeding via stomach tube. These data are not consistent with the hypothesis that CCl4 administration elicits a supporting adrenal discharge. Keywords
